May Tip: Clamshell Packaging

Clamshell packaging, known as thermoform plastic, is formed when polyethylene
terephthalate (#2 PET) or polyvinyl chloride (#3 PVC) plastic is heated and shaped using a mold. Thermoform plastic is a popular packaging material with manufacturers because it is theft resistant and easily displays the product. However, clamshell packaging is unpopular with consumers as it is difficult to open and wasteful.

June 2010: Pool Chemicals

With summer fast approaching, people are bringing out their pool cleaning kits and getting their pools ready for the warmer weather. Traditional pool cleaning kits  hazardous chemicals like chlorine, acids, bases and neutralizers. These chemicals should be disposed of in a safe manner. Chemical reactions involving pool chemicals can create hazardous gases and become fire hazards at local landfills.
