Where can I recycle my car battery?
Many local recycling depots, landfills and transfer stations will accept car batteries free of charge for recycling. There are also several private scrap metal or battery recycling companies that accept automotive batteries. Some of these companies will pay for exhausted car batteries. Please handle and store car batteries with care. Call the RCBC Recycling Hotline or visit the RCBC Recyclepedia to locate the nearest collection facility.
Lead acid (automotive) batteries will be covered in a recycling program throughout the Province of BC by July 1, 2011. Please visit the Ministry of Environment's website for more information.
