I was charged a "Recycling Fee" when I purchased beverages at the store. What is the Recycling Fee?
According to Encorp Pacific (Canada), the beverage industry association that manages the return system, the Recycling Fee represents the cost of recycling the beverage container you purchased. Prior to the spring of 2000, this fee was incorporated into the price of the beverage. In order to educate consumers about the cost of the system, Encorp has encouraged retailers to show this fee as a separate item on your till receipt.
