Why does the bottle depot only give me a partial refund for my beer bottles?
The recycling program for ready-to-drink beverage containers is administered by Encorp Pacific (Canada). The recycling program for refillable domestic beer and cider bottles, plus any beer in aluminum cans, is administered by the Brewers Association of Canada. Encorp bottle depots have agreed to accept the containers to increase convenience for consumers. However, some depots discount the deposit refund in order to pay for the costs of handling these containers.
To obtain a full refund, please return these containers to a government-owned liquor store, or call the RCBC Recycling Hotline for a list of local depots offering full refunds.
