What can I do with my empty propane tank?

Empty, refillable propane tanks are accepted at most landfills and transfer stations for recycling. Many landfills and transfer stations do not accept non-refillable propane tanks because they are difficult and expensive to recycle. Some metal recyclers take empty, non-refillable propane tanks but may require that their valves be removed. Switch to refillable propane tanks whenever possible.

Never place a pressurized container you in your garbage as they can cause explosions when compacted in collection trucks.
