Waste Reduction Week Video Contest

We need the help of Canadian students in grades four through six to show Oscar the Grouch the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

Waste Reduction Week is asking students to produce a video sharing their best waste reduction tip. This video can then be uploaded to the Waste Reduction Week website where it will be evaluated by teachers from across the country against other submissions from the province/territory and a winner will be chosen. If schools are unable to produce a video, a photograph with an accompanying description of the tip will also be accepted. The school or class in each province/territory that provides the most interesting or unique tip will receive a video message from Oscar the Grouch.

Eligible Students: Canadian students in grades four through six

Accepted Video Formats: .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .divx, .mp4, .flv, .wmv, .rm, .mov, .moov, .asf, .swf, .vob

Accepted Video Length: Up to three minutes

Accepted Photo Formats: .jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .png

Accepted File Sizes: Up to 200 MB

Monday, September 28, 2009 First day submissions can be uploaded to www.wrwcanada.com
Monday, October 19, 2009 Final day submissions can be uploaded to www.wrwcanada.com
Late October Finalist submissions posted. Winners will be announced
Early November Winning schools will receive their message from Oscar the Grouch

Important Privacy Information

Schools /classes chosen as finalists will have their videos or photos shown via the Waste Reduction Week website and with the media. All finalists must demonstrate that they have proper permissions to display their videos or photos publicly.
